Transforming an idea from the written word to screen is a skill set that takes years to master but Queen Sugar writer Felicia Pride is on her way to doing just that. A former journalist and author, Felicia will be working alongside Universal Pictures and Will Packer Productions on the film Deeper, an erotic romance that she will write and executive produce. The creative is honored and excited to work alongside a group of visionaries committed to developing projects with the audience in mind.

“What I love about Will and his team is that they are committed to making sure people of color have a presence on screen and behind the camera,” she says. “It is amazing to partner with Will Packer Productions because they are a force in this industry and I’m thankful they are providing me with the opportunity to bring my script to the big screen.

In addition to Queen Sugar and Deeper, Felicia directed the short film Tender and co-wrote and executive produced the upcoming film Really Love, which stars Kofi Siriboe, Naturi Naughton and Uzo Aduba.Along with her passion for storytelling, Felicia is also dedicated to empowering emerging creatives through The Create Daily, a free service that she created in 2012 to support underrepresented storytellers.

“I think at every level we have the potential to help our peers, those following us and those above us – for example Ava DuVernay has been a huge support throughout my career”, said Felicia. “I’m committed to empowering others and I think that’s how we break through the doors, build our own doors and move forward collectively as a community.”
